1st Day: Arrival in Tangier – Chefchaouen
On the first day of your 7-day Morocco tour from Tangier, we’ll pick you up from your accommodation, the airport, or the port in Tangier, known as “the bride of the north.” The city is located where the Mediterranean Sea meets the Atlantic Ocean at Cape Spartel. We’ll start by exploring the beautiful city, visiting the Cave of Hercules and Cape Spartel. After some free time for lunch, we’ll drive inland to Chefchaouen, passing through Tetouan and the Rif Mountains. Stops will be made for panoramic views, and you’ll spend the night in a hotel in Chefchaouen.
2nd Day: Chefchaouen – Roman Ruins of Volubilis – Meknes – Fes
After breakfast, wander through the charming blue alleyways of Chefchaouen. Next, we’ll drive to the ancient Roman ruins of Volubilis, a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its well-preserved mosaics and ancient architecture. After exploring the ruins, we’ll head to the imperial city of Meknes, the Ismaili capital, where we’ll visit Bab Al-Mansour, Sahrij Souani Basin, the Royal Stables, the Granary, and the Moulay Ismail Mausoleum. Finally, we’ll drive to Fes for an overnight stay in a riad.
3rd Day: Guided Tour Sightseeing in Fes
We’ll pick you up from your accommodation in Fes after breakfast to explore this imperial city, Morocco’s cultural and religious center. The tour begins at the Royal Palace gate, followed by the well-preserved medieval Medina, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Enter the old Medina through the Blue Gate or Bab Boujloud, and with a local guide, visit the Medrasa Bouanania, the Najjarine Fountain, the Tanneries, and the Quaraouin Mosque and University, the oldest in the world. We’ll also explore the Jewish quarter, “the Mellah,” and visit an ancient fortress for panoramic views of the Medina and Fes before returning to your riad.
4th Day: Fes – Ifrane – Cedar Forest – Midelt – Ziz Valley – Merzouga Sahara
After breakfast, the 7-day Sahara Morocco tour continues south through Imouzzer to Ifrane, renowned for its alpine-style architecture and cooler climate, earning it the nickname “the Switzerland of Morocco.” We’ll proceed to the Cedar Forest, home to the Barbary macaques, where you can feed them while exploring the forest. Next, we’ll drive to Midelt for lunch and continue through the Tizi-n-Tilghmt pass and the Ziz Valley, with stops for panoramic views. In the afternoon, we’ll reach the Sahara Desert in Merzouga. Here, you’ll switch to camels to cross the sand dunes and pause atop a high dune to enjoy the sunset. The day concludes with a stay at a camp that blends traditional nomadic tents with hotel luxury, where you’ll enjoy Berber drum music around a campfire beneath a starry sky.
5th Day: Explore Merzouga Region – Nomads – Khamlia – Merzouga Lake – Erg Chebbi – Palm Grove
After breakfast, we dedicate the day to exploring Merzouga. This region is full of incredible sites, from sand dunes, wild lakes, mines, and fossil areas to beautiful oases—ideal for many outdoor activities. We start our journey by driving off-road to visit an ancient eyeliner mine. Then, we’ll visit nomads in their handmade woven tents to learn about their way of life over a cup of Berber tea. Our next stop is Khamlia village, where you can enjoy Gnaoua music and dancing performances. Its residents have origins in sub-Saharan countries like Mali, Sudan, and Niger. After a restaurant lunch, we’ll stroll through a palm grove and drive a few kilometers to see the wild lake of Merzouga, also known as Flamingo Lake, before returning to Merzouga for dinner and an overnight hotel stay.
6th Day: Merzouga Sahara – Rissani – Erfoud – Todra Gorges – Dades Valley
Waking up early for a breathtaking sunrise is a must. After breakfast, we’ll leave the desert for Rissani, the ancient capital of Tafilalet and a major trading center, with a lively souk open on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays. After exploring the souk, we’ll continue to Erfoud to visit a workshop of fossilized marble. Then, we’ll drive through Touroug and Tinjdad palm groves to the Todra Gorges, where the Todra River has carved a magnificent canyon with high red cliffs, a paradise for rock climbers. You’ll have time to wander through the gorges, take in the scenery, and enjoy lunch at a restaurant. Next, we’ll head to the Dades Valley through Boumalne Dades, stopping to admire the “monkey fingers” rock formation and the valley view. Dinner and overnight will be at a hotel.
7th Day: Dades Valley – Roses Valley – Palm Groves of Skoura – Ouarzazate – Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah – Telouet – High Atlas Mountains – Marrakesh
After breakfast, our 7-day Sahara Morocco tour continues to Kalaa Magouna, where we’ll explore the Rose Valley. Each May, the valley hosts a Rose Festival, where locals showcase their rose products, from perfumes to cosmetics. We’ll then drive through the palm groves of Skoura and visit the Amredhyle Kasbah before arriving in Ouarzazate. Here, we’ll explore film studios and the Taourirt Kasbah. Next, we’ll visit the famous Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah, a UNESCO World Heritage Site that has appeared in many films and TV series like Game of Thrones. Afterward, we’ll visit the Telouet Kasbah and journey through the Tizi-N-Tichka pass and the High Atlas Mountains, stopping for lunch and scenic photos.
