ITINERARY :Explore Northern Morocco: 5-Day Itinerary Beginning in Tangier

Day 1: Arrival in Tangier – Chefchaouen

On the first day of your 5-day tour in Northern Morocco, we pick you up from your accommodation, the airport, or the port in Tangier, also known as “the bride of the north.” Tangier is located in the northwest, where the Mediterranean Sea meets the Atlantic Ocean off Cape Spartel. Begin by exploring the beautiful city, including the Cave of Hercules and Cape Spartel. Enjoy free time for lunch before driving inland to Chefchaouen, passing through Tetouan and the Rif Mountains. Stops will be made for panoramic views. Overnight stay in a hotel in Chefchaouen.

Day 2: Sightseeing in Chefchaouen “the Blue City”

After breakfast, explore Chefchaouen, the Blue City, also known as Achaoun, meaning “horns” in Berber. Located in the Rif Mountains, Chefchaouen is famous for its blue and white-painted buildings and alleyways. Stroll through the charming old Medina, filled with beautiful blue doors that make for stylish photos. Enjoy free time for lunch, then hike to the Spanish Mosque on high ground for a spectacular view of the entire city. Return to the hotel for an overnight stay.

Day 3: Chefchaouen – Volubilis – Meknes – Fes

After breakfast, wander through the beautiful alleyways of Chefchaouen. Then, drive to the ancient Roman ruins of Volubilis, a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its well-preserved mosaics, pillars, and archways. After exploring the ruins, drive 30 km to Meknes, the Ismaili capital and an imperial city. Visit Bab Al-Mansour, Sahrij Souani Basin, the Royal Stables, the Granary, and the Moulay Ismail Mausoleum. Continue to Fes for an overnight stay in a Riad.

Day 4: Guided Tour of Fes

After breakfast, begin your exploration of Fes, one of Morocco’s imperial cities and a cultural and religious center. Start by visiting the Royal Palace gate, then explore the medieval Medina, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Enter through the Blue Gate or Bab Boujloud, the entrance to the old Medina, with a local guide. Visit the Bouanania Madrasa, the Najjarine Fountain, the Tanneries, and the Quaraouin Mosque and University, the world’s oldest university. Visit the Jewish quarter, known as “the Mellah.” Finally, drive to an ancient fortress for panoramic views of Fes before returning to your Riad.
