ITINERARY :10 Days in Morocco from Tangier: Tour Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Tangier – Chefchaouen
On the first day of your 10-day Morocco holiday from Tangier, we will pick you up from your accommodation, the airport, or the port in Tangier, known as “the bride of the north.” Located where the Mediterranean Sea meets the Atlantic Ocean off Cape Spartel, Tangier is our starting point. We will explore the city, including the Cave of Hercules and Cape Spartel. After lunch, we drive inland to Chefchaouen, passing through Tetouan and the Rif Mountains, with stops for panoramic views. Overnight stay in Chefchaouen.

Day 2: Exploring Chefchaouen
After breakfast, continue your Morocco tour by exploring Chefchaouen, renowned for its blue and white buildings. Stroll through the old Medina with its beautiful blue doors. After lunch, hike to the Spanish Mosque, which offers a spectacular view of the blue city. Return to your hotel for an overnight stay.

Day 3: Chefchaouen – Volubilis – Meknes – Fes
Following breakfast, depart Chefchaouen to visit the ancient Roman ruins of Volubilis, a well-preserved World Heritage Site. See its beautiful mosaics, pillars, and archways. Next, drive 30 km to Meknes, the Ismaili capital, to explore Bab Al-Mansour, Sahrij Souani basin, the Royal Stables, the granary, and the Moulay Ismail Mausoleum. Proceed to Fes for an overnight stay in a riad.

Day 4: Guided Tour of Fes
After breakfast, a guided tour of Fes awaits. Start at the Royal Palace gate and explore the medieval Medina, also a World Heritage Site. Visit the Blue Gate (Bab Boujloud), Medrasa Bouanania, the Najjarine Fountain, the Tanneries, and the Quaraouin Mosque and University. Next, explore the Jewish quarter (Mellah) and a fortress with panoramic views of Fes. Return to your riad for the night.

Day 5: Fes – Ifrane – Cedars Forest – Midelt – Ziz Valley – Merzouga Sahara
The tour continues south from Fes through Imouzzer to Ifrane, known for its alpine-style architecture and cold temperatures, earning it the title “Switzerland of Morocco.” Visit the Cedars Forest to see Barbary macaques. After lunch in Midelt, drive through the Tizi-n-Tilghmt pass and Ziz Valley, with panoramic stops. Reach the Merzouga Sahara desert in the afternoon, where you’ll switch to camels for a sunset ride and stay in a luxury desert camp with Berber music and starry skies.

Day 6: Exploring Merzouga
After breakfast, explore Merzouga, visiting an ancient eyeliner mine and a nomad camp to learn about their lifestyle. Then head to Khamlia village to experience Gnaoua music and dance. Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant, followed by a stroll in the palm grove and a visit to Merzouga Lake, also known as the flamingos’ lake. Return to Merzouga for dinner and overnight at your hotel.

Day 7: Merzouga Sahara – Rissani – Erfoud – Todra Gorges – Dades Valley
Early morning is perfect for a sunrise view. After breakfast, visit Rissani, the ancient capital of Tafilalet with its vibrant souk. Proceed to Erfoud to see fossilized marble workshops. Drive through palm groves to Todra Gorges, a stunning canyon ideal for rock climbing. After lunch, continue to Dades Valley, with stops at the “monkey fingers” rock formation and a viewpoint over the valley. Overnight stay in Dades Valley.

Day 8: Dades Valley – Rose Valley – Skoura – Ouarzazate – Ait Ben Haddou – Telouet – High Atlas – Marrakech
Drive to Kalaa Magouna to visit the Rose Valley, known for its annual Rose Festival in May. Continue through Skoura’s palm groves and visit the Kasbah of Amredhyle. In Ouarzazate, tour movie studios and Taourirt Kasbah. Visit Ait Ben Haddou, a fortified village and UNESCO World Heritage Site featured in many films and TV series. Continue to Telouet and then to Marrakech, passing through Tizi-N-Tichka pass and High Atlas Mountains. Overnight in a Marrakech riad.

Day 9: Guided Tour of Marrakech
After breakfast, explore Marrakech with a local guide. Visit the Bahia Palace, Saadian Tombs, and Ben Youssef Quranic Mosque. Wander through the largest souk in Morocco and enjoy lunch near Jemaa El-Fna Square. In the afternoon, see the Koutoubia Mosque and Majorelle Garden. Return to your accommodation and enjoy free time at Jemaa El-Fna Square.

Day 10: Casablanca Airport
After breakfast, transfer from Marrakech to Casablanca. Depending on your flight time, a visit to the Hassan II Mosque might be possible. Then, drop off at the airport, concluding your 10-day Morocco holiday from Tangier.
